A Disneyland Paris Moment

Good morning, it's time for my weekly dose of inspiration for Visible Image and for today and next week's posts I am sharing 2 Moments I made for Jane's Journal using their awesome stamps. They are Moments of our recent wonderful holiday in Disneyland Paris.
Such sweet memories of 5 days with our own Princess who loved the castle so much!

We were so lucky with the weather, despite being mid November we had a couple of days with bright blue skies and sunshine and at one point we were able to take our coats off.
I knew which of my photos I wanted to remember those days by and chose the one 1 took of the castle when were were sitting on the train which runs round the park. We took this the first afternoon we arrived. We had our cases taken to the hotel so we just walked straight into the magic of Disney.
This was taken just before dusk when the moon had risen in the sky. The sky gave off a pink tinge and there was a gorgeous golden glow in the air. It really felt magical.
I wanted to try to include all these memories in my Moment. So this is what I got up to.

To create the sky I first white embossed the moon and clouds from the Believe in Unicorns set

I gold embossed the cogs from the Somewhere in time set around the edges of my page.

. I then carefully and slowly built up the colours for the background using blues with a little pink distress ink. I wanted to try to mimic the sky that evening.

at the bottom of my page I added some golden hues.

The trees were bare and we could here a bird singing as we sat at the station in Fantasy land so I used my Tim Holtz die to cut a bird and branches to capture that memory.

I gave them lots of texture and colour with DecoArt texture sand and acryllic paints.

The pathway was made using the geometric maze stencil and gold embossing paste.

I used the sentiment from where dreams take you, it was perfect for my Moment.

I also stamped stars from the rock out set to the backing card for my photo.

It was then time to put my Moment together...
Here are some close ups.
and one final shot.

It really was such a magical time, made even more special by sharing it with our 4 year old granddaughter. I hope that one day when Daisy looks through Jane's Journal she too will be able to remember that special time. Next Monday I will share the Cinderella Moment I made, again brought to life by the versatile Visible Image stamps.

I would like to enter my Moment into the following challenges;

Getting the list ticked

I am getting more ticked off my list including writing and sending all my Christmas cards and buying my wreath for the front door. I love seeing this when I come home...a festive welcome every time.
My vintage advent calendar is revealing such sweet scenes each morning
I have been very busy indeed looking after Bear but I did manage 2 days of Christmas shopping. One with my best friend Karen and one with my darling daughter and Jack...just look how he is growing...
My darling little man.
I manged to make some crafty time as there are some fun challenges I wanted to join in with.
Inspired by my retro advent calender and Jack's cool jumper I made my December page for my art journal.
I had lots of spare Christmas die cuts sitting on the side so I stuck them down and added some gesso and also a holly mask to my paper.
I knew this would leave lots of lovely texture so out came my Distress paints and I got very messy!
After spritzing and spraying I was left with a cool background.
I stamped out one of my favourite Stampendous stamps 3 times
and water coloured a few as I wanted to decoupage the frame.
I put together a very festive scene but chilly scene. You can see how the holly mask shows up w

Peeping through the window to the cottage in the distance looking warm and cosy in the snow.
I made lots of inky and textured elements and tried to keep to quite a retro feel.
Of course mittens in the snow are essential...do you remember having strings on yours as a child?

My art journal page was made for the following challenges;

The Funkie Junkie 12 tags of Christmas #11

This is Linda's tag for week 11 here. I used the red and white background and the fun mittens for some of my inspiration.

The trees have arrived

Hello all, it's Billy here. I have been busy typing up this post for Jane as at the weekend the annual madness descended into her household.

Yes it is the time of the year when trees walk into my house. Well I say walk, they seem to need a little assistance but that's being a bit pedantic in my books. Now things are a bit different this year as I am conducting my overseeing of this not from the green chair but from her bed...and there is good reason behind this..
It comes in the form of  someone rather big and hairy who has come to stay for a few days. Yes Bear, Jane's son's dog is here. Hmmm....looks like he's got part of Rudolf's antler there...
Now us cats are not too keen on dogs, they are rather too excitable in our books. Who ever told Bear that cats like to be chased was very mistaken. Therefore I have taken up residence in the upstairs of the house where I can oversee everything perfectly from my vantage point, separated from Bear via a stair gate which he can't squeeze through.

So back to today's post...On Saturday morning I meowed down to Bear to shut his eyes....daft dog always does as he is told. I just wish he would listen this well when I tell him not to chase me.
When I told him to open them just look who had walked in.
Yup it was Norman the Nordmann, all netted up as per usual. He is obviously a very tricky tree to catch. Jane's hubby sawed a little off his base (apparently it's like having your nails trimmed so no pain involved), so that he could drink properly during his Christmas stay. She says she gives him top ups of water but I swear I saw her with the gin bottle...or was that the elf?
Anyway Bear had a good sniff
and before you could say whiskers Norman was upright wearing his lights.
Then it was the usual fussing with those shiny things called baubles including 2 new ones....Meet my friend Olaf the snowman. He really can sing but boy does he know how to talk....
and Simon the sprout...he doesn't say much really. He is just...a sprout.
So once everyone had gone to bed, including Bear, I sneaked through the stair gate to say hello in person to Norman.

I had trouble getting him all in shot , he's pretty tall. He said that it was great to be back again and he wondered why the green chair was empty. He says that Bear is a very good dog and that I could stay downstairs but no way was I taking a chance like that. Also the Man in the red suit could be popping down the chimney at any time so I quickly called up to my friend Silky the fairy.
She waved down at me
She says she also feels a bit safer up here away from Bear.
I saw lots of my favourite friends who can all tell a story of when and where Jane bought them including her childhood moon.  I then quickly sneaked back upstairs before Bear woke up.
So it's back to guard duty on the bed for me for a few more days.
It's very tiring.... Old Choc will say hello soon, he called up the stairs to me but I will wait until Bear goes home as there is no way I am sneaking down in the night twice. Plus I have heard that dogs and chocolate don't mix so that's another reason for biding my time.

Now Jane also enters these card challenges and my paws typed this up for her. Goodness me she gets value for money out of me!
Here is today's creation, very appropriate for these long dark nights drawing in. Apparently the background is stencilled using glitter paste. I will vouch that it is indeed very sparkly.

She made it for these challenges;

The Funkie Junkie 12 tags of Christmas #10
If you would like to play along with Linda's challenge you can see all the rules here. There are some great prizes for the winners too. The challenge is generously sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique Linda shares a tag each week and you just have to take something from it and make something Christmas themed. I have always chosen to make cards and it's a great way to make 12 very unique cards for Christmas.
You can also combine it with any other challenges.
This is Linda's tag for week 10 here. Jane took the sparkly stencilled background and the snowflakes to use for some of the inspiration in her design.

Right then I have more strenuous things to do now....I just need to readjust my position
OK I'm comfy now..perhaps a short cat nap is a much better idea.
Bye for now,

Billy, standing (or even sleeping) in for Jane) x
